Summary

The Holocaust occurred during a time in history when millions of people were imprisoned and murdered. In the 1930's and 1940's the Nazis, under the leadership of Adolph Hitler, put people in concentration camps. The mission of the Nazis of the Third Reich in Germany was to annihilate the Jewish race.

The derivation of the word Holocaust comes from the Greek holos which means completely and kaustos which means burnt. Germany's final solution, as it was called, involved the mass murder of people and burning of their bodies.

Simon Wiesenthal was one of these prisoners. Remarkably he survived the Nazi death camps. He decided to use the remainder of his life to pursuing escaped Nazis and bringing them to justice for their war crimes.
